Kavitha, a Data Entry operator at Lotus Business Solutions, Bengaluru
Is it possible for a village girl from Athigiri to get a job in the big city of Bengaluru? Yes", says Kavitha
30 year old Kavitha K is from Athigiri, a remote village of Bangarpete taluk, which is 72 kilometres from the city of Bengaluru (Bangalore), the capital of Karnataka and know as the Silicon Valley of India. Kavita lives with her father, Krishnappa (60), who is a farmer, and her mother Nagaveni (45). She has one younger brother and sister.
Kavitha says, “When I was a 9 months old child, my left leg was affected by polio. My parents took me to several hospitals for treatment. However there was no improvement in my leg.”
After I completed my high school and my PUC (pre-university) in the Government Girls Junior College in Bangarpete, I decided to search for a job. My good friend from Kolar referred me to CHI-BU (Cheshire Homes India, Bangalore). I visited their Kolar Centre and registered myself. At the centre they assessed my skills and counselled me. They requested me to undergo a 2 month Basic Computer training and training in English communications. I also underwent their Foundation Training which includes topics like time management, grooming, attending mock interviews, and how to dress neatly, and lessons to improve my confidence level.
I was interested in getting a placement in Bangalore. But was it possible for a village girl to get a job in the big city of Bangalore? I wondered. CHI-BU was organising a special recruitment drive for Lotex Business Solutions, Domlur, in Bangalore, on 23rd December 2015. I attended this recruitment drive. I cleared my typing test. Then I went in for the HR (Human Relations) round. Eventually I got selected by Lotex Business Solutions. I was so happy to be recruited!
Kavitha says excitedly, “I have been appointed as ‘Data Entry Operator’. My initial salary is INR 7500 a month. Today I am very happy and confident. I could not believe that I could adjust so well to my new circumstances being a girl from a remote village of Bangarpete taluk. I am well placed and secure in life today because of CHI-BU! Thank you Cheshire Homes India for your support in getting me a job in Bangalore!”
