Sanjay Soran has a growing business with 3 assistants!

“My success shows that people with disability can enter business and also shine in a world dominated by non-disabled people,” says Sanjay.
Date: 13/02/2019
Sanjay Soran is the sole breadwinner of his family. He is from Pratapbagh, New Delhi. He lives with his parents, wife and children. Sanjay dreams of becoming self-employed. He wants to run his own business. He has completed his graduation. But he suffers from Locomotor Disability. He contracted the polio fever in his childhood which led to his disablement.
Says Sanjay with a smile, “When EU LRC (Livelihood Resource Centre) funded by EUIL (European Union India Livelihoods) was conducting its mobilization camp in Pratapbagh. An EU LRC team member met me and registered my name on 2nd June 2017. I underwent training in ‘Ready to Succeed’ on the very same day.
On 28th June 2017, EU LRC team provided him with incense sticks (Dhoopbatti) worth Rs.5000/-. Sanjay started his business with the materials he had received.
Sanjay happily shares, “My earnings are between Rs.15000/- to 20000/- per month. With the profits I have made I expanded my business from retail supply to wholesale supply. I have also rented a shop in Khilonabagh near Nanak Piao Gurudwara. I am now starting my second business of supplying drinking water in the neighbourhood. As I am disabled and unable to lift 20 ltr water bottles, I have employed two people to help me. I have also employed another person to assist me with the sales in the shop. I dream of becoming a big businessman one day.”
A beaming and confident Sanjay says, “I wish to be a donor to EFICOR (Evangelical of India Commission on Relief), a project partner of EUIL project. I am willing to support and give the necessary backing for other people with disability who want to start their own businesses. I received the much-needed support for my business from EFICOR EU LRC team. So it is my turn to give back to my community.”
“My success shows that people with disability can enter business and also shine in a world dominated by non-disabled people,” says Sanjay.
EU LRC team is happy and satisfied with the changes in Sanjay’s life and his unbelievable progress. They observe that he is hardworking and sincere in his work. The team has all good wishes for his achievement.  They hope he will always be successful in his life and be an inspiration to others.
Sanjay heartily acknowledges, “Thanks to EFICOR EU LRC team - for all their help and support they have given me and - their work in the lives of countless other people with disability!”
