Gangamma, a Customer Service Associate in Accenture, Bengaluru

Thanks Livelihoods Resource Centre, Bangalore to get into my dream job in Accenture!” says Gangamma
Date: 03/04/2017
Gangamma works for Accenture, Bangalore - a leading global professional services company which is listed as one of the 100 best companies to work for in the world.

26-year-old Gangamma says, “I am from Krishnapura in Bellary district of Karnataka State, India. I am a person with orthopedical impairment. My left leg is affected due to polio. But I am able to walk independently with the help of calipers. My disability does not put me off. I have put in my best efforts to complete my high school from Renuka High School, Bellary. I have also done my pre-university from Sharanabasaveshwara College, Rayadurga. I finished my BBM (Bachelor of Business Management) from Vijayanagara Shri Krishnadevaraya University in 2014.”

Gangamma shares her pain at being denied a job because of her disability. Gangamma relates, “I was so excited when I completed my graduation. I tried hard to find a job in my area of interest. The recruitment companies were not encouraging at all. I felt I was denied the opportunity to work because of my disability. I was disappointed.”

“I met the team from Cheshire Homes India, Bengaluru-Livelihood Resource Centre (CHIBU-LRC). They helped me to analyze my skills and abilities. Then I attended Leonard Cheshire Disability’s Foundation Training at CHIBU. This training helped me immensely. It upgraded my life skills, prepared me through mock interviews, and oriented me in writing interesting resumes. It groomed me and boosted my self-confidence,” reveals Gangamma.

“CHIBU-LRC was conducting a job fair in April 2015 for candidates with disability, which I attended. I appeared for interviews. Finally my talent was recognized and I got placement at Concentrix Daksh Services India Private Limited as a practitioner!  I worked here for 2 years. Then one fine day LRC contacted me with a better job opportunity. Accenture was organizing a special recruitment drive for people with disabilities, LRC said.  I participated. To my good luck I successfully cleared their aptitude test and personal interview. Eventually I got selected by Accenture with almost double salary. Today I work as a Customer Service Associate at their international process division! Thank-you LRC!” says Gangamma happily.

Gangamma attributes her success to the timely Foundation Training and the job placement service provided by CHIBU-LRC in Bangalore!
